The Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the young athlete for his remarkable achievement on the international stage.
PM Modi praised Aman for his resilience and determination in the face of adversity.Despite the tragic loss of his parents at a young age and the challenges he encountered, Aman demonstrated an unwavering fighting spirit.
“Your life is an inspiration to others,” Modi remarked, acknowledging the young man’s ability to overcome hardships.
“You made the Chhatrasal Stadium your home. You are the youngest to win an Olympic medal for India. With such a long way ahead of you, you will surely fill this country with happiness,” added the Prime Minister.
Aman thanked PM Modi for the support of his government, saying, “This is all due to the support of my countrymen and your hard work.”
The wrestler expressed his disappointment at missing out on the gold, vowing to prepare and give his all to secure the top prize at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
To this, the PM said, “Leave aside the gold, silver and bronze medal. You have given the country a lot already and they are taking your name with pride.”
Sehrawat, who turned 21 on July 16, secured a dominant 13-5 victory against Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico in a fierce battle for the bronze medal and became India’s youngest ever Olympic medallist
Before him, the celebrated PV Sindhu held the record as India’s youngest Olympic podium finisher, having claimed a silver at the 2016 Games at the age of 21 years, one month, and 14 days.
Sehrawat, who has not yet completed a month since turning 21, helped India secure its sixth medal. India has won one silver and five bronze medals.
