Vivek Oberoi is known for being honest in interviews, and he recently opened up about his views on open marriage. He admitted that he doesn’t understand it. As a traditional person, he believes that exclusive relationships, which have been around for a long time, have a meaningful purpose.
In a candid interview with MensXP, Vivek, who has been married to Priyanka Alva for more than ten years, shared his views on love and marriage. He expressed his traditional perspective on relationships, highlighting the importance of exclusivity in marriage.
He expressed that he doesn’t understand the concept of open marriage, explaining that the idea of “open exclusivity” doesn’t make sense to him. He believes that in a relationship, one must either be exclusive or not, and there is no middle ground.The actor, who is strongly connected to his culture, explained that the concept of open marriage doesn’t align with his values. As a typical Punjabi man, he prefers to follow the traditional idea of marriage.
Vivek admitted that he might not be suited for the modern concept of open marriages, as he believes the traditional idea of exclusivity in marriages has its reasons. While he acknowledges that some old practices may be flawed, he doesn’t think all of them are.
Oberoi emphasized his belief in traditional commitment, describing his unique bond with his wife, Priyanka Alva. He explained that every morning when he wakes up and sees her, he feels love. He often asks himself if, out of all the women in the world, he would still choose her. His answer is always yes. He believes that experiencing this kind of commitment every day, month, and year is more liberating than the concept of open marriage.
Vivek Oberoi married Priyanka Alva on October 29, 2010. Alva is the daughter of a politician and former minister. The couple has two children: Vivaan Veer and Ameya Nirvana. On the work front, Oberoi will next be seen in Masti 4, directed by Indra Kumar, alongside Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh.
