Arjun Kapoor talks about his ‘impulsive decision’ to be there for ex-girlfriend Malaika Arora after her father’s death: ‘If I’ve formed an emotional bond with…’ |
Arjun Kapoor spoke about supporting his ex-partner, Malaika Arora, when she lost her adopted father, emphasising the importance of honoring emotional bonds. He acknowledged that his personal traumas, including his mother’s death and parents’ separation, have shaped his outlook on relationships, leading him to expect they might not last.
On Raj Shamani’s podcast, Arjun spoke about going through ups and downs in his personal life. He mentioned that it’s hard to know if the “right” person will turn out to be wrong later. When asked why he supported Malaika during her tough time, he explained that it was based on his own experience when his father’s wife, Sridevi, passed away suddenly in 2018. Even then, he tried to repair his relationship with his father.
The actor also shared that when his father and Khushi-Janhvi faced difficult times, he acted on impulse. Similarly, he felt the same instinct to support Malaika. He emphasized that if he forms an emotional bond with someone, he will be there for both the good and bad times. Arjun mentioned he doesn’t have many friends, and if someone doesn’t want him around, he respects that and keeps his distance.
The actor discussed how the media and industry have changed over time. He recalled that when he made his debut and was growing up, many things were kept private for good reasons. He pointed out that while gossip existed, confirming things has become common now. Today, you can’t even go to a restaurant without being spotted, as everyone carries a phone, even without the paparazzi.
Arjun further shared that it’s better to go public with a relationship, as secretly meeting your partner can make it seem shady. He believes it’s important to be open about your partner in a dignified way. Although he’s a private person, he admitted that Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Karan Johar encouraged him to join social media after the film 2 States.
