Kollywood star Ajith Kumar has shared his thoughts on being conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award yesterday (April 28) at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. His wife – former actress Shalini Ajith Kumar – also shared some proud pictures from the event on her social media handles.

In a recent interview with India Today, Ajith opened up about the honour: “Honestly, it still hasn’t sunk in. I’m still a plain middle-class person at heart, and it feels so surreal to be here and experiencing all these emotions. I’m happy and overwhelmed.” He added that it affirms he’s on the right path, motivating him to stay committed to his work and values as he moves forward.
Ajith dedicated his victory to his wife, Shalini. “I am grateful to my family for their support. Shalini… she made so many sacrifices. She’s been my pillar; I’m extremely grateful to the universe,” he said. He also thanked his fans for their unconditional love through thick and thin.
Ajith also spoke about Shalini’s break from the industry: “I am not trying to sound politically correct here. I mean it in every sense. She was very popular and loved by the people. And for her to just take a backseat… There were times when my decisions were probably not the right ones. But she still stood by me, never discouraging me, and remained by my side during the tough times. She deserves a lot of credit for everything I have achieved in my life.”

On the work front, he was last seen in Good Bad Ugly by Adhik Ravichandran. The film also featured Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, Sunil, Karthikeya Dev, Priya Prakash Varrier, Prabhu, Prasanna, Tinnu Anand, and Raghu Ram in key roles. It hit theatres on April 10 and earned positive reviews from his fans and well-wishers.
