Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap and director Imtiaz Ali’s daughter Ida Ali were holidaying together in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, just two days before a tragic terror attack shook the region. The two girls, who are close friends, had visited the popular tourist spot with their partners and shared happy moments online—only to be left shocked and heartbroken by what happened soon after.
Aaliyah and Ida share their shock
Both Aaliyah and Ida turned to social media to express their grief and disbelief. Aaliyah, who was with her husband Shane Gregoire during the trip, posted on her Instagram Story, “This is crazy; we were just here 2 days ago. Praying for all the victims, their families, and all the people affected. This is heartbreaking.”
Ida, who was accompanied by her boyfriend Krish Agrawal, also paid tribute to the victims in a heartfelt post, writing, “My heart goes out to all the victims and their families.”
The girls had been enjoying the scenic beauty of Pahalgam, often called ‘Heaven on Earth’, and had even posted a YouTube vlog showing highlights of their trip. At the time, everything seemed peaceful and picturesque.
What happened in Pahalgam?
On Tuesday, 22 April 2025, terrorists opened fire at Baisaran, a lush green meadow near Pahalgam. Known as ‘mini Switzerland’ for its breathtaking views, Baisaran is a favourite among tourists, especially during the warmer months. According to a report by NDTV, the attack took place around 3 PM and claimed the lives of 26 people. Many others were injured.
Bollywood celebrities strongly condemned the attack
Many celebrities have used their social media platforms to express their pain, anger, and solidarity with the victims’ families.
Akshay Kumar shared his heartbreak on X (formerly Twitter), writing “Horrified to know of the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Sheer evil to kill innocent people like this. Prayers for their families.”
Vicky Kaushal also posted a moving message on Instagram, “Can’t imagine the pain of the family members who lost their loved ones in the absolutely inhumane act of terrorism in Pahalgam. My deepest condolences and prayers.”
Sanjay Dutt took a stronger tone, demanding action from the government. He wrote, “They killed our people in cold blood. This can’t be forgiven, these terrorists need to know we are not staying quiet. We need to retaliate. I request our Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, Home Minister @AmitShah ji and Defence Minister @rajnathsingh ji to give them what they deserve.”
