Hyundai Creta EV: Hyundai Creta goes electric! Debut in Jan 25: To rival Mahindra XEV9e, Tata Curvv EV |
As the year wraps up, the Indian auto sector, particularly the EV segment, is gearing up with major launches. For instance, Hyundai is all set to electrify its popular Creta SUV, with the debut of the Creta EV scheduled for the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, happening from January 17 to January 22. The upcoming electric SUV will enter a competitive segment, going up against rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and Mahindra XEV 9e. Here, let’s take a look at what we can expect from the model.
Hyundai Creta EV: Design, cabin and features
The Creta EV has been spotted testing multiple times across Indian roads already. While the test mule remains heavily camouflaged, its silhouette closely resembles the ICE version. We can expect the manufacturer to retain the familiar design language of the standard Creta while incorporating EV-specific tweaks. Key changes may include a blanked-off grille, redesigned bumpers, a repositioned Hyundai logo, and a charging port mounted on the front fender. The test vehicle also sported aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels.
Inside, the Creta EV’s cabin is expected to mirror its ICE counterpart but with subtle upgrades to suit the EV experience. Spy shots reveal a twin-screen setup: one for infotainment and the other for the instrument cluster. A steering column-mounted drive mode selector is also expected. Besides that, Hyundai is likely to load the Creta EV with advanced features, including dual-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, air purifier, electric driver seat, 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite.
Hyundai Creta EV: Powertrain
While official details are yet to be revealed, the Creta EV is expected to feature a 45-50 kWh battery pack, offering a driving range of up to 450 km on a single charge. Powering the Creta EV will likely be a single front-axle-mounted motor producing around 138 hp and 255 Nm of torque.
