Cyclone Fengal: Schools and colleges to remain closed in four Tamil Nadu districts

All schools and colleges in four districts of Tamil Nadu will remain closed due to heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Fengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rain in the districts of Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Puducherry due to the cyclonic storm.
“All schools in the Nilgiris district will remain closed on December 3, 2024, in view of heavy rainfall,” announced District Magistrate Lakshmi Bhavya on Tuesday, as reported by ANI.
According to the ANI report, in other districts such as Ranipet, Salem, and Tiruvannamalai, only schools will be closed. Additionally, in Kallakurichi, schools in Thirukovilur Town, and in Krishnagiri, schools in Pechampalli and Uthangarai Taluk, will also remain closed.
The decision to close schools and colleges has been made to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff. Students, parents, and guardians are advised to stay updated by checking with their respective school authorities for further announcements.
Cyclone Fengal, which made landfall between Puducherry and Tamil Nadu on November 30, weakened on Sunday. However, its influence continues to cause torrential downpours in the region.
As per the information, Northern and central Kerala should prepare for substantial rainfall on Tuesday. The IMD indicates that sporadic light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms will continue throughout the next five days.
