47 years on, Team India creates history in Australia with Perth win

NEW DELHI: India delivered a commanding performance to claim the opening Test in Perth by a staggering 295 runs on Monday, leaving Australia reeling and searching for answers.
Set an improbable target of 534, the world’s top-ranked Test team folded for 238 in the final session of day four.
This triumph marked India’s biggest-ever victory, in terms of runs, on Australian soil in Tests.

It also stands as India’s second-largest win against Australia overall, behind their record 320-run triumph in Mohali during the MS Dhoni era in 2008.

India’s previous record for their biggest win in Australia dated back to 1977 when the Bishan Singh Bedi-led side thrashed the hosts by 222 runs in Melbourne.
